Introduction
Rarantimangalam village is located in Nagapattinam Tehsil of Nagapattinam district in Tamil Nadu, India. It is situated 32km away from Nagapattinam, which is both district & sub-district headquarter of Rarantimangalam village. The original name of the village is Rajathiraja Chaturvedimangalam, later it became as Maruvi Rarantimangalam. Presiding deity is called as Kailasanathar. The temple is believed to be 500-1000 years old Shiva temple. A small Perumal temple is located on the eastern side of a large pond near to the shiva temple. The Shiva temple here was completely demolished and Lord Shiva lived under a large canopy on the south side of the temple. The people have set up a tin shed for lord Shiva. There is a Nandi opposite with some snake idol under the tree. The Perumal Temple is in good condition. Some of the good soul has set up a single sanctum sanctorum temple. Most of the work is done. Only the works for painting, dedication and pitching remain. But the Shiva temple is completely disappear. “With the kind permission of Sri Kadambur K. Vijayan, these are extracted from his posts”.
