Introduction
Pudukkottai is located at a distance of about 8 km on the road from Aranthangi to Audaiyar temple The oldest temple in the area is believed to have been built by the Pandyas in the 13th century. Sri Adikesava Perumal blesses Sridevi Bhudevi Sametara in the sanctum sanctorum. This is the temple where great ceremonies and worships were celebrated during the reign of kings. Puranic Significance
Legend has it that Parasara Maharishi, a great ascetic in ancient times, used to come to Stalam and perform penance. Devotees go to visit Perumala only after visiting him. She is revered as Padithanda Pathini. Here, Karutadhwar Perumal with his wings is blessing towards the shrine. The Mahamandapam houses the shrines of Sri Selva Varatharaja Perumal Sri Lakshmi Narasimhar Nammazhvar Sri Ramanujar. The blessed Anjaneyar here is special. This Anjaneyar, who looks like an old man, looks angry when viewed from the east and with a smiling face when viewed from the west.
