Introduction
Palavai village is located in Thiruvarur Tehsil of Thiruvarur district in Tamil Nadu, India. Palavai is a very small village with a total of ten houses. The Temple is believed to be 1000 years old. Here the presiding deity is called as Sokkanathar and Mother is called as Kamatchi amman. The temple is east facing Shiva temple. The name Alavai may have been later known as Palavai. The name of the Goddess is Kamatchi. In fact, it must have been Meenakshi. Being ten houses away from the Shiva temple. Located on the shores of the large pond. The Lord has the sanctuary facing east and the mother has the sanctuary facing south. In front of the Lord there is a home hall at the gate of the sanctum sanctorum are the temples of Ganesha Murugan and Valli.
