Introduction
Sri SoumynathaSwamy temple is located in Nandalur, Kadapa district. This temple was built in 11 th century. This temple Spreads across 10 acres and is a popular Vaishnavite temple. This temple was renovated by Pandavas, Kakatiyas and Vijayanagara dynasties. But now the temple is in a bad shape. The temple has 4 Rajagopurams over looking in the 4 directions. Mahadwaragopuram is on the Eastern side while other gopurams on the West, North and Southern directions. There is a dhwajastambam, balipeetham, watertank(koneru) and huge yagnasala are situated in temple premises. There is a deepasthambam with 4 lions sculpted on it.The Sanctum has seven foot-tall idol of soumyanathaSwamy with 4 hands-on holding a SudarshanaChakram and another a panchajanyaShankham. MahalakshmideviAmmavaru holding 2 lotuses are seen on the chest of the presiding deity Sri SoumyanathaSwamy. This Nandalur temple is seen facing East and incidentally, Tirupathi is towards the East of Nandalur. The Amazing fact is on some occassions sunrays directly fall on the lotus feet of the Lord (Venkateswara) SoumyanathaSwamy.
