Introduction

This place is almost unknown but has two significantly beautiful and ornate Hoysala temples, which probably would have been grand like any other Hoysala temple, but today is nothing but ruins. Nagalapura was a prosperous town under the Hoysala rule, whose grandeur can be felt when we look at this temple. Like most of the Hoysala towns, the temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu (Chennakeshava). Another temple is shiva temple. This is bigger than the Kedareshwara temple though both have the same plan of construction. Channakeshava Temple looks like it has suffered a lot more damage than the Shivalaya. One part of its lateral wall is made up of only plain, blank slabs. Here, too, we see the multiple horizontal bands of lively figures like elephants, horse riders, … The sculptures of the temple are also in ruins. but it rich in Nagalapura village.
