Introduction
Muktimandapam Kasiviswanathar temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, located in the Madavilgam Melakottaivasal, Nagapattinam District, Tamilnadu. The Kasi Vishwanathar Temple is located on the south side of the Nilayadatchi Temple. Adjacent to the temple, the theertham is adorned with a beautiful hall. But today the vegetation is overgrown and the place is occupied. The Kasi Vishwanathar Temple is open for a very short time. Many people may not even know that there is a temple here.
Puranic Significance
The Temple is believed to be more than 1000 years old. It is said that Meenakshi Sundaram Pillai performed the legend of Thirunagai Karonam sitting in this hall. The Kasi Vishwanathar Temple faces east and Ambika has a shrine facing south. There are no elements in the prakaram or koshta. It is also unfortunate that there is not even a Sandesar shrine. The prakaras look like a forest. “With the kind permission of Sri Kadambur K. Vijayan, these are extracted from his posts”.
