Introduction
Manavalanallur is a Village in Vriddhachalam Block in Cuddalore District of Tamil Nadu State, India. It is located 65 KM towards west from District head quarters Cuddalore. 3 KM from Vriddhachalam. 235 KM from State capital Chennai. The small village is located on the eastern side of the big lake, where the Ganesha Temple faces east on the main street and the adjoining Shiva Temple adjoins it. The Lord is the beautiful great linga idol. The name of the Lord is Sokkanathar here. Celliyamman is in a nearby shrine. There are no other shrines. The temple is a sub-temple under the Kolanchiappar Temple. None of the villagers come to the temple in large numbers. The temple is in ruins without maintenance. The town became known as Manavalanallur due to the resurrection of the bridegroom Murugapperuman, as Arunagirinathar said, “Kurangula and Kunrurai Manavala”. “With the kind permission of Sri Kadambur K.
