Introduction
Maharajpuram Shiva Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, Located in the Maharajpuram Village, Thiruvidaimarudur Circle, Thanjavur District in Tamilnadu State.. Maharajpuram is a small town on the north side of the main road. This small town is named after Maharaja Rajaraja I, who was the king of all the kings. The town is located on the Poompuhar Road, the royal tomb of the Cholas. The Shiva temple here was built by the Cholas.
Puranic Significance
The Temple is believed to be 1000 years old. To the east is the sanctuary of the Lord; to the south of Ambika, and both the sanctum sanctorum is the hall which bears some lion pillars. On the outer wall of the sanctuary were nouveau riches. But there was not even a statue to know what was in them. All have been stolen. There are also some unlicensed clothes in the temple. The Shiva temple is located on the west bank of a large pond; the temple is a place where souls worship in the abomination of the Lord. Some people call this state of worship as idolatry. This worship is essential for keeping the wandering mind in a state. This worship brings firmness, purity, sensuality and energy to the soul. But we have not maintained such temples for many reasons and today the temples in every town are in ruins. “With the kind permission of Sri Kadambur K. Vijayan, these are extracted from his posts”.
