Introduction
Magilancheri village is located in Nannilam Tehsil of Thiruvarur district in Tamil Nadu, India. It is situated 4km away from Nannilam and 10km away from district headquarter Thiruvarur. This temple is the east facing Shiva temple. There is a short way to the temple, Surrounded by fields and trees. The present temple may date back to the nineteenth century. The temple conducts a one-time puja. Priest from the Nannilam village doing pujas for the lord and if you are here at that time of puja you will be blessed to see the Lord Kailasanathar. The temple is only five cents in area. The temple houses Lord Kailasanathar on the east side, Goddess Akilandeswari on the south side and Ganesha, Subramanian and Lakshmi sub-shrines in Prakaram. Natarajar has performed different types of dances on each stage. In Mahilancheri, there is a rare dance called Unmatta Dance. The statue of Natarajan of Mahilancheri was earlier kept in the Perumal temple, but now it is not known whether it is here or in the Thiruvarur archive. “With the kind permission of Sri Kadambur K.
