A small sanctum sanctorum, the present-day temple with the Arthamandapath was originally an elaborate temple with a perimeter wall. Inscriptions of the kings Parakrama Pandian, Kulasekarapandian and Veerapandian are found on the walls. Birthstones indicate land donations for the temple.
