Introduction
Avanamkulam Subrahmanya temple is an ancient temple at Edachalam village in Kuttipuram in the Malappuram district of Kerala which was destroyed during the invasion of Tipu Sultan. The temple is several centuries old and has been lying in ruins ever since. The primary deity is Subrahmani, Shiva. No other deity here. The idols of the temple are complete ruins
Puranic Significance
The people of the locality started the restoration of this temple in 1988 but couldn’t complete it due to a lack of resources. Even today they worship the feet of the Deity BalaSubrahmanya which is the only remains after the idols were cut off to pieces by invading forces. UgraNarasimha Charitable Trust has taken to complete the restoration of this ancient temple. But still, this temple is in ruins.
