Introduction
This temple was once large in size and dedicated to Siva known as Gadgaj temple located in Atru, Baran, Rajasthan. It consisted of a sanctum, an antarala, ardhamandapa and a porch. The temple remains atleast influence of Pratihara art and on the basis of iconographic and architectural features, it may be ascribed to 10-11 century A.D. Besides, the temples of Panihari, Chanihari, Sardevmata, Gadia and Phool Devra dedicated to Siva, Mahisasurmardini and Vishnu are important among them assignable to same period. The sculptures, considered to be more than 1,000 years old, were idols are stolen on April 22 and September 19, 2009. They were two of four sculptures that surfaced when excavation was carried out on the Gargach temple ruins. This temple is monuments are centrally protected under ASI and in Atru.
