Introduction

               Vattathur Yogeshwarar Temple is dedicated to lord Shiva, located in the Vattathur village, Srimushnam circle, Cuddalore district, Tamil Nadu. Here there are Shiva temple, a Varadaraja Perumal temple and an amman temple are located in this town. The Shiva temple is small and is situated towards the east. Here the Presiding deity is called as Yogeshwarar in the form of lingam and Mother is called as Yogehwari. Other deities, Ganesha and Muruga are present at the gate of the sanctum sanctorum. The goddess faces south. There is also a Nandi Mandapam in front of the Lord. The sanctum sanctorum of Yogeshwari has Dakshanamurthy on the south side and Durga on the north side. In the north side is Sandesar. The temple is said to be more than 1000 years old.
