Introduction

The Subramanian Swamy Temple is located in the village of Pinnalur in Cuddalore district, Tamil Nadu. The temple is dedicated to Lord Murugan, worshiped here as Subramanian Swamy, along with his consorts Valli and Deivanai. This ancient temple is believed to date back between 500 to 1000 years, making it a significant place of worship for devotees in the region.

Puranic Significance

Around 130 years ago, a devout servant of Lord Murugan lived in Pinnalur. Despite his economic hardships, his unwavering devotion led him to have a profound vision.

The Vision and Dedication:
While working abroad during an economic crisis, he encountered an old man who advised him to return home and construct a temple for Lord Murugan. Following the vision, he overcame numerous challenges, returned to Pinnalur, and initially set up a simple shed for Murugan’s idol. His dedication earned him the title Kuppusamy Siddhar, and over time, the shed transformed into a temple.
Legacy and Revival:
After Kuppusamy Siddhar’s passing, his body was buried near the temple, and rituals were established in his honor. Over the years, the temple fell into neglect but was revitalized with the installation of a new idol of Valli Deivanai Sametha Subramaniyar. On April 8, 2022, a grand Kudamuzhukku Vaibhavam (consecration ceremony) was conducted, marking the temple’s resurgence.
