Location:
- The temple is located in Nattarpatti village, in Tenkasi district, Tamil Nadu.
- It is situated on the Tenkasi-Tirunelveli road, and the goddess is worshipped as Amaravati Thayar.
History & Puranic Significance:
- The temple is believed to be 500 years old.
- According to legend, when the idol of Goddess Amaravati was being transported in a bullock cart, the cart stopped at a certain spot in the village. The locals interpreted this as a sign that the goddess wanted a temple to be built at that location.
- It is also believed that when the land was being dug for agricultural work, a Swayambu (self-manifested) idol of Goddess Amaravati was discovered, leading to the consecration and construction of the temple.
Beliefs:
- Devotees believe that Amaravati Thayar is a remover of grievances, a fulfiller of wishes, and a preserver of health. People seek her blessings for various personal and health-related issues.
Special Features:
- The idol of the goddess was discovered during agricultural digging and is considered Swayambu.
