Introduction
- Location: Kadambaravalkai village, Kilvelur circle, Nagapattinam district, Tamil Nadu.
- Significance: Part of the five Pancha Kadamba Sthalas. It is the place where Lord Muruga relieved himself from the Veerakathi dosha.
- Deity:
- Lord Vishwanath (Shiva) as the presiding deity.
- Goddess Vishalakshi as the mother deity.
- Temple Age: Believed to be 1000 years old.
Puranic Significance
- Orientation:
- Lord Vishwanath faces east.
- Goddess Vishalakshi faces south.
- Both sanctums are connected by a hall.
- Features:
- A small lingamurthy of Lord Vishwanath.
- Shrines for Vinayagar and Murugan at the gate of the sanctum sanctorum.
- A small Nandi altar in front of the sanctum.
- Kodimaravinayak, facing east, is located behind the Nandi altar.
- A small Lord Ganesha is placed on the wall at the entrance gate.
- Additional Shrines:
- Tenmugan is in a beautiful room inside the sanctum sanctorum.
- In the north-west, there is a complex with temples dedicated to Sri Devi, Bhu Devi, and Varadarajaperumal, along with Karudavalar and Anjanayer to the south.
- In the north-east, there are shrines for Kalabhairava, Chandran, and a smaller Navagraha mandapam.
- The Sun deity is situated in the South-East.
