- Aundhsur Demon: According to legend, the demon Aundhsur terrorized the local population. They prayed to Goddess Amba, who defeated the demon, leading to the town’s name, Aundh.
- Lord Ram and Goddess Parvati: Another legend connects the temple to Lord Ram’s search for Sita Devi, who was abducted by Ravana. In a test of Lord Ram’s identity, Goddess Parvati, in the form of Sita, was recognized by Lord Ram as his mother. This event led to her blessing him.
