Introduction

Kanathur Shiva Temples is located at about 10 Kms from Kalpakkam and 2 Kms from Koovathur. This Village is blessed with two Siva temples. The Siva lingams are in the open. Sri Vinayagar idol is in a damaged position. Jeshta Devi, the Godess of sleep and wealth is also seen. The sacred name of the Lord is not available. There is no trace of Ambal. Only in two days in the month that is on the Pradosham days the temple is worshipped. Another Siva lingam is found under a tree. Devotees who want to visit this place have to get down at Koovathur in ECR road.

Beliefs

There is a sacred tank nearby in front of the temple. If one performs abhishegam to the Lord here with plain water, fear from enemies and evil forces will be removed by his grace.
