Introduction

Sri Vishalakshmi Ambika Sametha Sri Viswanathaswamy is located in the village of Puliyancheri, Kudavasal Circle, Thiruvarur District, Tamil Nadu. Puliyancheri village is a small town with 120 houses near Mudikondan river. Sri Viswanathaswamy Temple has ebony carvings. The temple was built about 200 years ago by the family of Sri Sankarayya who lived in the nearby village of Vikrapandiyam. As long as the Sankarayyar family had heirs, the temple had been arranging for poojas and festival to be held forever. Kumbabhishekam was also performed for Sri Viswanathaswamy Temple in 1970. The temple was later handed over to the Hindu Charitable Trust due to old age. Then there is no maintenance by the treasury and the trees are overgrown on the planes of the temple without any regular poojas and are in a very bad condition.

There are two Shiva shrines Sri Kamakshi Ambika Samedha Sri Kailasanathar temple, and Sri Vishalakshmi Ambika Samedha Sri Kasi Viswanathar Swamy temple located next to one another which is very unique.
