Introduction
Vilakkappadi Shiva Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, located in the Vilakkappadi village, Virudhachalam circle, in Cuddalore district. On the Virudhachalam-Chidambaram road, 15 km away, get off at the bus stand and go two km to the village in the south. Some of the burnt bricks which are the remains of the ruined Shiva temple are said to be 800 years old. There are some statues from the place where the temple was, which are still in ruins. However, a small amount of work is being done to build a temple for the ruined lingam.
The lingam, which had been in the lake for many years, was taken as a toy by the boys, and they placed the lingam towards the east, facing the town on the south bank. The villagers also started worshiping the lingam which was placed towards the south. Even today Vilangeswarar is facing south at ground level. A huge vanni tree is growing near the temple sanctum. Although it is a small village, the temple is rising due to its devotion to Lord Shiva. However, being a small agricultural village, we can see that it is not possible to complete the work after spending a large amount of money. Although the construction of the shrine for the Lord has been completed till the flight, the shrine for the ambika and the koshta idols are still to be done, for more information contact Arul – 63749 19449
