Once upon a time there was a merchant in the village of vaipur who had seven daughters. When both of them were staying in the temple to pray to Manikavannar in Thirumarugal, the boy was bitten by a snake and died. She cried and prayed to the Lord to help her.
Hearing the cry, the woman fell down at the feet of Sammandar and narrated what had happened. Seeing girl’s devotion and the high morals of both of them, Sambandar Manikkavannar sang a hymn to him and the merchant came back to life. The monk and the merchant son were very happy and praised the great mercy of Marugalnath and fell down at the feet of Sambandar. The next day, a group of volunteers congratulated Sammandar for the marriage. God gave a dance performance to Sammandar and others who gave life to the dead.
