Introduction
The Temple is believed to be 1000 years old. This temple is facing towards east. The temple consists of sanctum, antrala and mandapa. The mandapa is supported by ten short pillars, four pillars and two pilasters. The mandapa is completely enclosed with parapet walls with entrances from eastern, northern, and southern side. The short pillars stands over the parapet walls. The mandapa has a three pyramidal superstructure over it. Nandi can be found facing towards the sanctum in the mandapa. The sanctum enshrines a Shiva Linga within yonipitha. The sanctum is crowned with nagara style shikara. There is another shrine situated opposite to the main shrine. There is a tank situated beside the main shrine.
Puranic Significance
Believed to be around 1000 years old, the Mahadeva Temple faces eastward and consists of three main sections: the sanctum, antrala (vestibule), and mandapa (hall). The mandapa is supported by a combination of ten short pillars, four pillars, and two pilasters. It is completely enclosed by parapet walls, with entrances from the eastern, northern, and southern sides. The short pillars rise above the parapet walls, and the mandapa features a three-tiered pyramidal superstructure. In the mandapa, a Nandi statue is positioned facing the sanctum.
Within the sanctum, the presiding deity is represented by a Shiva Linga seated within a yonipitha. The sanctum is crowned with a nagara-style shikara (tower). Additionally, there is another shrine situated opposite to the main shrine, and a tank is located beside the main temple, adding to the overall ambiance and significance of this ancient site.
