- Historical Significance: The site where Guru Gobind Singh, the tenth Sikh Guru, prepared the full version of the Sikh scriptures, Sri Guru Granth Sahib, in 1705.
- Other Takhts: The other four Takhts include Akal Takht, Takht Sri Keshgarh Sahib, Takht Sri Patna Sahib, and Takht Sri Hazur Sahib.
Puranic Significance
- Meaning of Damdama: The term “Damdama” translates to “resting place.”
- Historical Context:
- After engaging in several defensive battles against the Mughals, Guru Gobind Singh stayed at this location, seeking refuge and relaxation.
- Following fierce confrontations at Anandpur Sahib, Chamkaur Sahib, and Muktsar, he retreated to the Malwa jungle and rested at Talwandi Sabo, which contributed to the name “Damdama Sahib.”
- Guru Gobind Singh spent nine months and nine days here, transforming the area into a center for spreading his mission, hence the name “Guru-ki-Kanshi.”
- Significant Contributions:
- During his stay, the Guru re-dictated the Adi Granth and named the place “Khalse Da Takhat.”
- A seal was created bearing the inscription: “Akal Sahai Guru Gobind Singh ji ki Jagha-Takhat Damdama Sahib ji.”
- Previous Visits: The site was also visited earlier by Guru Teg Bahadur, Guru Gobind Singh’s father.

- Damdama Sahib is the headquarters of the Nihangs (an armed Sikh order).

- Nanksar Sarover: Associated with Guru Nanak Dev Ji, who is believed to have visited this village in 1510 A.D. during his second Pad Yatra to Rajputana.
- Akalsar Sarover: Linked to Guru Gobind Singh Ji; a sip of water from this tank is believed to protect against diseases and afflictions.
- Gurusar Sarover: Dug under the orders of Guru Teg Bahadur Ji, this tank holds historical and spiritual significance.
