Introduction
Srirangadipuliyur Vyagrapureeswarar Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, located in the Srirangadipuliyur village, Nagai circle, Nagapattinam district, Tamil Nadu. Here the presiding deity is called as Lord – Vyagrapureeswarar, and Mother is called as Sivakami.
Puranic Significance
This Shiva temple is facing east on the road leading to east side. Vyagrapureeswarar is facing east and Ambal is facing south. There is a long hall before the Lord. Outside it is the Nandi and altar. Only the upper part of the temple is made of brick. Karurai has only Tenmugan in the south, and in the north it is a separate sanctum sanctorum. There are five lingams in the temple. Next to the northwest are the shrines of Subramaniyar, Mahalakshmi. Sandikesvarardhani. Bhairava, Saturn, Sun are in North East side of the temple.
The Temple is believed to be 1000 years old. Formal pujas and worships are taking place here. Kamadenu is believed to have worshiped this Lord and got blessings. This temple is called Dakshina Chidambaram.
