He is depicted holding a Shankha (conch) in his right hand and a Chakra (discus) in his left hand, representing peace and protection. The temple also houses an original Salagrama Mala, a significant religious artifact used for decorating the deity, which can also be found in the Tirumala and Ryali temples.

The Cholas are credited with reconstructing the temple, having found the idol in the Krishna River bed. A major reconstruction took place during Krishna Pushkarams in 1992. The temple had, unfortunately, fallen into neglect despite its considerable landholdings.

King Andhra Vishnu: According to legend, King Andhra Vishnu constructed a large wall connecting Sri Sailam, Bheemeshwaram, and Kaleshwaram, and these walls are believed to house Lord Shiva.
