The temple is located between thirukattupalli and koviladi…Exactly this temple is located Some few kilometers from koviladi a village named thiruchennampoondi. he name of the auspicious deity here is Mahadeva of Thirukkadai and the name of the goddess is Chidambika. Ivalatu Sanctuary is located alone towards Tendisai. The goddess bears the trumpet in her upper right hand and the story bearer in her upper left hand. She is embossed with Abhaya, Varatha and Hasta seals on her forearms. The sanctuary of the Lord is located towards the east. The people of the village say that the Archaeological Department has found 21 inscriptions here. Through this, one can know the information about the donors of gold to this temple. The entire sanctuary of the Lord is made of black stones. The Lord Shiva in the form of Shivalinga is found in full braided forms throughout. That is why he is called by the causal name of Sadayar, according to history. Formerly known as the Thirukkadimudi Mahadeva Temple, the temple is now known as the Sadayar Temple. It is said that this is a model temple in front of the Tanjore Big Temple. . The Temple is considered as Thevara Vaippu Sthalam as Devaram hymns had a mention about this Temple.

Puranic Significance

This temple was constructed in the early chola architectural style during 9-10th A.D. An inscription of Nandivarma Pallava 3 (9th century) has been engraved on a pillar in the front of the mandapa of the temple.
