Introduction

Sholanganallur Kashiviswanathar Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, located in the Sholanganallur village, Thiruvarur circle, Thiruvarur district, Tamil Nadu. Sholinganallur village is ten kilometers north-east of Thiruvarur on the Gangalancheri-Nagur road. The Shiva temple is the center of the town, here the Primary deity is called as Kashiviswanathar and mother name is unknown.

Puranic Significance 

The temple is said to be more than 1000 years old. This Shiva temple is facing towards the east side, and two large Dwarapalakas are in the Mukkapu Mandapam at the front gate. Above the gate of the hall is a Nandi devar.

Lord Kashi Vishwanath is facing east and ambigai is facing south. Vinayagar and Murugan are present at the gate of Lord’s sanctum. Nandi is in the hall before the Lord. Karurai has Tenmugan in the south and durga in the north. There is a separate sanctum of Vinayagar around the Prakara. In front of the sanctum sanctorum is the main lingam of Meenakshi Sundareshwar sanctum, next to Vishnu’s sanctum. There is a sandesar in the usual place and a well nearby. Bhairava is in the northeast of the temple.
