Introduction

Seeyathamangai Vanmeeganathar Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, located in the Seeyathamangai village, Nagai circle, Nagapattinam district, Tamil Nadu. This Seeyathamangai Vanmeeganathaswami temple is located on the side of the main road after crossing Thirumarugal on the Sannanallur-Puducherry road. It is a small Shiva temple in Seeyathamangai village. This temple is a sub-temple of Thirumarugal Ratnakreeswarar temple.

The temple is said to be more than 1000 years old. Vanmeeganathar, the Presiding deity of this temple, is facing east side. Goddess Neelothpalambal is facing south side. It used to be a big temple with three sanctums. Only two sanctums remained for time to destroy everything, and three of the three enclosures were Bhairava.

At present there is a separate shrine of Maha Kalabhairava in the north-east facing west side. Hence this temple is called Maha Kalabhairava Temple. Ganesha and Murugan are both in small place at the gate of the sanctum sanctorum. A separate Ganesha is in the southwest. In Karurai Kotam there are Thenmukhan, Lingodpavar, Brahman, Durgai. Chandikeswarar is a separate shrine. There is no Navagraha shrine here.
