Introduction
Sambavar Vadakarai Sri Agastheeswarar Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, Located in the Sambavar Vadakarai, Tenkasi District, Tamilnadu. Here the Presiding deity is called as Agastheeswarar.
Puranic Significance
The ancient temple has been renovated in the medieval times by the efforts of the devotees. The Agatheeswarar, who appeared in the dream of the devotee, told him to renovate the temple. Nandhiyam Peruman is placed in mukha mandapa. On the left side of the sanctum is Agathiswarar in the form of Shivalinga in the sanctum sanctorum, Nandi Devar placed opposite to the Lord shiva. Dakshinamoorthy, Yoga Narasimhar, and Brahma in the sanctum sanctorum. Krishna is the child crawling between Rahu Ketu.
Beliefs
Devotees pray for child boon, prosperity and fearlessness.
Festivals
Chitra Poornima in April-May; Vaikasi Visakam in May-June; Aadi Pooram in July-August; Vinayaka Chathurthi in August-September; Navarathri in September-October; and Maha Shivrathri in February-March are the festivals celebrated in the temple.
