Introduction
Amruteshwar Temple is located in Ratanwadi village which is 50 KM from Akole Taluka. As per historical references, Amruteshwar Temple was built before 1000Years. It is Lord Shiva stone carved Hemadpanthi architectural style temple built by the Shilahara Dynasty in 9th Century AD. Amruteshwar Temple is an intricately carved Shiva temple located in Ratanwadi. This is one of 12 Lord Shiva temples built by King Jhanj.
Puranic Significance
The temple has a sanctum, a labyrinthine structure dominated by the sculptures of the god, and goddess carved out of stone, and a pond within its complex. According to the locals, the temple is one of 12 temples built in 900AD by King Jhang. It is mainly sacred to Lord Shiva, and thus here one can see a lingam. The temple has an exquisite feature like the there is a hot spring below the Shiv Lingam. In monsoon, when the level of hot spring rises, the main sanctum fills with water. Around the temple, there’s a pond, which also carries sculptures made out of black stone. The temple itself is set on the banks of the lake and has some carvings.
