Introduction
Ponmanmeinthanallur Kashiviswanatha Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, located in the Ponmanmeinthanallur village, Papanasam circle, Thanjavur district, Tamil Nadu. On the Papanasam-Tirukarugavoor road, Valathamangalam is two kilometres away from Devarayanpet on the road and ½ kilometre to the south is Ponmanmeinthanallur. This is a Small village; here the Presiding deity is called as Kashiviswanatha and Mother is called as Kasi Vishalakshi.
Puranic Significance
In the colloquial language, this village is also known as Pommanallur and Ponmasanallur, later called as Ponmanmeinthanallur. The small village had an east-facing Shiva temple on the banks of a beautiful lotus pond in the town’s central street, towards the east is the Shiva temple, towards the south is the vannamambiga temple, and separate roofs for Navagraha, Bhairava and Surya Chandras. At present Kasi Vishwanath, Kasivisalakshi and Nandi bairavar sandesar are kept and worshiped in a single shed. The Temple is believed to be 1000 years old.
