    • The great Kamakoti visited the temple and spoke highly of the celibate Agni Dixit.
    • Sundarar, a notable saint, passed through Panangudi on his way to Tiruppukalur. When asked to sing a song for the temple, he declined, stating that his voice was insignificant compared to the Vedic recitations occurring there.
  • Healing Tradition:
    • The village was once known for its healing practices, particularly in treating snake bites, earning it the nickname Panangudi Vaithiyam. The locals believed that even deadly snake bites could be treated here.
    • However, many of the medical families have since left, and the village has become somewhat deserted, although the temple remains a central focus for the community.
