Introduction
Padutharkollai Soleswarar Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, located in the Padutharkollai village, Tirumalairayan pattinam circle, Karaikal district, Tamil Nadu. This town is located on the banks of Thirumalayarayan River in the west of Thirumalayarayanpattinam. A beautiful square shaped pond is also filled with water in front of the temple. There is a road to the south of the temple, which is used as the main road. Here the Lord Soleswarar is also known as Choleeswarar and Mother is called as Sivagami amman.
Puranic Significance
It is a Nayak period structure with conical halls. The Temple is believed to be 500 years old. The temple is completely a brick temple. The sanctum sanctorum consists of Arthamandapam, Mukhamandapam, which also has a south-facing lord and ambigai sanctum sanctorum. Nandi is housed in a separate small hall outside the lord sanctum. There is Tenmugan in the sanctum sanctorum and a small mandapam has been constructed in front of him. At the back there is a small lingam.
Among the Prakara, there is a Murugan sanctum next to Vinaytirtha vinayakar, a long hall next to it, and adjacent to it is Lakshmi. On the north side there is a big tree which may be the main tree of this temple. Navagraha is in the hall. There is also a well in the temple.
