In a brick building is Shiva with his consorts, Vinayaka, Thandayuthapani, Dakshninamurthy, and Sandesar. There is a separate temple for Vinayaka nearby. The presiding deity is called as Lord Vedapureeswarar and Mother is called as Balavidyambikai.
Puranic Significance
This temple is built before the 7th century, the village was called as Othavali Gudi because it was the place where the Veda recites who came for the wedding of Thirugnanasambandar came and stayed. The special feature of this temple is that there are two moolavar’s in the same sanctum sanctorum. The one who gives darshan daily is Vedapureeswarar and another one who only gives darshan during the year of Mahashivaratri. This practice is the practice that existed when there was a great temple. Now the Lord is present in a dilapidated clapboard building where a guru comes and performs puja from time to time.
