Puranic Significance
Locals say that this is the temple built by the Pallavas and rebuilt by Cholas. Bhairavar and many ancient idols are found around the temple in a broken condition.
For the past three years, the people of the village have been performing pujas and Pradosha worship as much as possible. Similarly, it is said that the Brahmin who lied arrogantly, when he was worshiping in many temples all over the country, he came here and worshiped Easan and received grace. That is why this town got the name `Brahmapuri’ and Easan as `Brahmapuriswarar’. The name “Othal Padi” came from the place where the Brahman recited and chanted Shivaya Mantra. It has now become `Othalvadi’.
It is special that people who are looking for a suitable Guru come here to worship as Eason appeared here to praise the glory of Guru-disciple relationship. It is said that the Guru himself will come to us as a result. And Lord Brahmapureeswarar has arisen here as God of Wisdom, Moksha and Grace! Construction work is about to start in Chitrai month to rebuild this temple.
