Introduction
Okkur Shiva Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, Located in the Okkur village, Kilvelur circle, Nagapattinam district, Tamil Nadu. Okkur village is a small town, with only two or three streets. Here, on the banks of a large pond, a great temple like a magnificent chariot was built during the Nayak period and is 500 years old temple in this area.
Some good people have left the found idols at the gate of this temple. At the point of sword they destroyed the temples thinking to destroy Hinduism; today they are destroying the remaining temples by saying that they will destroy Sanada Dharma by word of mouth. This is how dilapidated temples came into being, idols were worshiped. Okkur is one of them.
