Introduction
Naalur Balasavanathar Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, LOctaed in the Naalur village, Tirucherai Post, Kumbakkonam Taluk, Thanjavur district of Tamil Nadu. Presiding Deity is called as Balasavanathar and Mother is called as Periyanayki. The temple is under the control of the Department of Hindu Temples and is classified as a primary temple. The temple is believed to be 1000 Years old Shiva temple. The temple is considered as Thevara Vaippu Sthalam as Devaram hymns sung by Appar.
Puranic Significance
According to the inscriptions at Sthalam, Lord is referred to known as Balasavannathar. The temple is located on the east side with a small wire door without a tower. In the sanctum sanctorum, Lord Balasavannathar rises in the form of a linga with a square audacity facing east. The plane of the Lord’s sanctuary is located on the dormitory, which is said to be the plane of Gajaprashta. According to the Gajaprashta plane, there is a preview of an elephant standing on its eastern side. Ambal rises to the south at a separate Sanctum around the north as it comes around the outer circle. The Ganesha Sannidhi is located in the southwest corner of the outer circle and the Sundeswarar Sannidhi is located in the northern round.
