Introduction
Mayiladuthurai Theppakulam Kasi Viswanathar Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, located in the Mayiladuthurai circle, Mayiladuthurai district, Tamil Nadu. Theppakulam Kashi Vishwanath Temple is located just opposite to Dulagatam Kashi Vishwanath Temple on the north side of Mahadhana Street. When Agathiya Munivar came to the south, he bathed in the Kaveri and worshiped this Lord. The temple faces west and has a three-tiered Rajagopuram.
Puranic Significance
The temple is said to be more than 1500 years old. Here the Lord is called as Kashiviswanatha and Mother is called as Kashivisalakshi. The Murugan is on the left side and Vinayaka on the right side at the Lord’s shrine sanctum. Ambika is giving grace to the goddess Kaveri standing in the Posture towards the south next to the lord sanctum sanctorum. There are no idols in Karurai. Adjacent to the south-west wall is Vinayagar and the north-west wall has Valli theiyani samedha murugan. In the north-east is Bhairav, near which stands a large neem tree. This temple belongs to Dharmapuram Adheenam.
