Introduction
Location: Maraimalai Nagar, Kanchipuram District, Tamil Nadu, on NH-45, opposite the Ford Car Factory, 50 km from Chennai.History: The temple was built in the 1990s, but the deity’s idol is about 1,300 years old, from the Pallava era.Discovery of Idol: The idol of Lord Lakshmi Narasimha was excavated in 1990 by the temple priest, Srinivasa Raghavan, and his wife, Choodamani Ammal, with the help of the district collector and archaeological authorities.Puranic Significance: The idol is believed to have been worshipped by King Kausika (later Vishwamitra) during the Treta Yuga. The idol was found underground and was revealed through divine guidance from Lord Narasimha in the priest’s dream.Temple Construction: Built by the priest and his wife, the temple follows the Agama Sastras and features 248 chakras in its foundation. The main deity is Lord Lakshmi Narasimha, with Anandavalli Thayar as his consort.Festivals:
