Introduction
Manalur Pinnavanathar (Vishwanathar) Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, located in the Manalur village, Kilvelur circle, Nagapattinam district, Tamil Nadu. Manalur is 6 km from Tiruvarur. This village is also called as 64.Manalur. A small farming village, there is a old school called Kalaimala. On the same street is a temple facing east on the bank of a third crescent-shaped pond. Here the Presiding deity is called as Pinnavanathar (Vishwanathar).
Puranic Significance
The temple is said to be more than 1000 years old. The temple is built entirely of brick. The Lord is facing east side and Goddess is towards the south side; his name is unknown. A hall connects the two sanctuaries. Nandi is facing the Lord in a small hall outside the temple.
In the north-east corner is the Navgragam Mandapam, which does not rely on oil and does not have clothes, and around it are falling neem trees and fig trees are sprouting and taking root here and there. Tenmukhan is sitting with only clothes and some flowers. The priest performs one time puja at this temple.
