Introduction
Lakshmangudi Neelakandeswarar Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, located in the Lakshmangudi village, Koothanallur circle, Thiruvarur district, Tamil Nadu. It was called Lakshmangudi as it was worshiped by Lakshmi, now it is called Lakshmangudi, Here the presiding deity is called as Lord – Neelakandeswarar and Mother is called as Neelothpalamba. In this temple, Lord Neelakandeswarar Periyalingamurthy is located towards the East and Neelothpalambal towards the South side. The Temple is believed to be 1000 years old. Nandi is on the platform before the Lord. Among the Karurai Kothams are Tenmukan Lingothpavar Brahman and Durga. Both Vinayaka and Valli theiyani samedha murugan have their own sanctum. Bhairava is on a floor towards the west. Navagraha is nearby the bhairavar shrine. There is also a large pond to the south-east of the temple. On the east side of the temple, Mariamman is standing posture. This temple is under the control of the Hindu Charitable Department, a period pooja is held, and on special days Pradosha etc. are held.
