Puranic Significance

Sivaninainthaperumal and Shanmugavativammal, who lived in Kurusamipuram, have no children. On the advice of an astrologer, they decided to go to the Kuladeyva temple. As a result, Shanmuga Vadivammal became pregnant. She gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. She named him Aruna Lakshmi. At the age of 19, she married Ramachandran, the son of Muthukumar Nadar. The year after the marriage, Aruna Lakshmi gave birth to a beautiful baby girl.

The mother and daughter have a conflict when giving birth control pills. Thus on the tenth day of childbirth the husband left home. She blocked the stone at the border of the town and fell down. Aruna woke up trying hard not to get up and went to her husband’s house. She has been in poor health since the day she went there and has been suffering from inability to eat. Aruna, who has a disfigured face and a thin complexion, is being brought home by her mother. Aruna came home the next morning and called her relations. I am going too died on next Tuesday. Adding my point. Do not burn me. Put me in that place where I fell down. I will guard you and our family. Not only that, but I will be on guard for those who respect me and worship me.

Aruna Lakshmi, Nadukal Nut Puja was performed at the place where she was buried. Later, they built an idol in the form of a woman standing with a child in her arms and worshiped at the temple. The temple was renovated a few years ago. In the sanctum sanctorum of the temple, there is a statue of Goddess Aruna Lakshmi and a statue of Goddess’ daughter in the form of a girl. In the sanctum sanctorum of Adi Moolasthan, there are idols of Rama, Lakshman, Sita Devi and Anjaneyar along with idols of Goddess.
