Introduction
- Location: Situated about 9 km from Thirunelveli Town, Tamil Nadu, on the banks of the Tamirabarani River.
- Tamirabarani River: Known as Jeeva Nadhi (Life-giving River) as it remains perennial and never dries up. The river sustains water throughout the year, and many devotees take a bath in its sacred waters before visiting the temple.
- Distances:
- 9 km from Thirunelveli.
- 160 km from Thiruvananthapuram.
- 170 km from Madurai.
Puranic Significance:
- The temple is so close to the river that during the monsoon, it gets submerged annually.
- Main Deity: Lord Muruga (Subramanya), the son of Lord Shiva.

- Lord Ganesha
- Utsava Subramanya and other typical Gods and Goddesses of Saivism.
- National Leaders’ Statues: The temple tower also features statues of Mahatma Gandhi, Swami Vivekananda, and V.O. Chidambaram Pillai.
- The temple is located on Thiruvuruvamalai, a rock formation in the river. It is believed to be over 1000-2000 years old. The same rock was used in 1653 for the construction of the Tiruchendur Murugan Temple.
