Introduction
Kovilur Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, located in the Kovilur village, Virudhachalam circle, Cuddalore district, Tamil Nadu. The Lord has a temple in this dusty forest land, hence the lord got name Kovilur Shiva. There are many abandoned temples in this area when the pujas are stopped when it rains, the people move in search of livelihood, and the temples are abandoned over time. Here we see the lingamurthy from the abandoned temple in this temple as well. There is a government high school on the main road of the town; a tin shed has been built in the temple next to a large cement field on the south road adjacent to this school. Inside, the Lord is called Shakti Shiva. And Outside it, Nandi is looking towards the Lord. The Temple is believed to be more than 1000 years old.
