Introduction
Kottarakudi Kasi Viswanath Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, located in the Kottarakudi village, Thiruvarur circle, Thiruvarur district, Tamil Nadu. On the road from Tiruvarur to Mannargudi, a small road leads to Kottarakudi on the south bank of the river. There is a large pond along the road and a Shiva temple on its northern bank. The Shiva temple to the east is a small temple. Here the Presiding deity is called as Kasi Viswanathar and Mother is called as Kasi Vishalakshi.
To the east is the Small Lingamurthy and to the south is Ambiga. At the sanctum sanctorum gate is Vinayaka, on the other side is Valli deivanai samedha Murugan. Nandi and the altar are opposite side of the lord. There is a well in the northeast side of the temple. It may be Chola period or Vijayanagara period temple. But the present Vishwanath temple is a Five hundred years old.
