Puranic Significance
Story behind the temple construction: The temple came into being with the efforts of an affluent devotee. Mother Kalikambal appeared in the dream of an affluent man and asked him to build a temple so that she would be spared from rain and sun. She also promised to be the custodian deity of the place. Thus, the temple began to grow in a shed and reached the present status as the temple of the village. Panchakshapuram: In olden days, the place was known as Panchakshapuram as the five Boodhas worshipped Lord Shiva with idols made of five metals. Koradacherry: As some blind people also worshipped here, the place was also called Kurudarseri (Kurudarblind). Later the name changed as Koradacherry.
