Introduction
Komal – Thambiran Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, Located in the Komal village, Kuthalam circle, Mayiladuthurai district, Tamil Nadu. The town is also known as Komal as the Lord appeared as a clown torch. There are three Shiva temples in the town.
Kirubakoobeswarar, Amirtheswarar The third most Alagiya Nathar temple is located on the road to Gangadharpuram in the southern part of Komal. The Lord is in a small tin shed near under a large banyan tree on the side of the road. The Lord has the bottom and the lingam without the upper part of the audaya. The temple is without proper maintenance. The people of this town are called the lord Shiva as Thambiran. However, the name and reason for this are not known. The temple is said to be more than 1000 years old.
