Introduction
Komal Gomuktheeswarar Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, located in the Komal village, Thiruvarur circle, Thiruvarur district, Tamil Nadu. Thiruvarur – Tiruthurapoondi Road is at the 14 km and there is a small stop named komal, half a kilometre to the east of here. This village is located on the west bank of the river. There is a Shiva temple and a Vaishnavism temple on the bank of Periyakulam. Komangalam is now known as Komal because it is the place where Kamathenu was worshiped. Here the Presiding deity is called as Gomuktheeswarar.
Puranic Significance
The Lingamurthy that emerged from the well, forty years ago when a farmer was digging a well on his land. A long time Lingamurthy was found in the komal town. Now, with everyone’s efforts, they have built a small temple for the Lord. There is a Balamurugan and Siddhivinayakar at the gate of temple towards the east. Navagraha in the north-east. There are two Nandis, one after the other, against the Lord. All the idols are kept in a small place and worshipped. Your wealth will increase by worshiping the Lord who worships Kamadenu.
