- Story of Agni’s Ailment and Cure:
- Brahma’s Yagya and Agni’s Illness: According to legend, Brahma performed a yagya with ghee that he obtained from Kamadhenu. However, Agni, the fire god, consumed more ghee than needed, causing him to fall ill and become unable to perform his duties.
- Sage Vyasa’s Advice: Distressed by Agni’s condition, Brahma and the gods turned to Sage Vyasa for a solution. Vyasa advised them that Agni should take a bath in the Thiruvarur Kamalaalaya Temple Pond and then worship Lord Kailasanathar at Kilveedhi. By following this advice, Agni was cured of his ailment.
