Introduction
Keezhavalakudi Kashiviswanathar Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, located in the Keezhavalakudi village, Kilvelur circle, Nagapattinam district, Tamil Nadu. Keezhavalakudi is a Small farming village, less than twenty houses, large and small ponds in the four corners of the town, this Chola era brick temple stands like a majestic chariot in the center of the town. Here the Presiding deity is called as Kasi Vishwanathar and Mother is called as Kasi Visalatshi. The Lord’s sanctum sanctorum has all the parts like Adhishtanam, Stamham, and stands like a plane.
Puranic Significance
The Temple is believed to be more than 1300 years old. At the front of the lord sanctum there is a domed hall. Mahamandapam may have been a bat-infested mandapam in the past, but today it looks like a cement sheet mandapam. Outside it is Nandi in the hall. Lord Kashi Viswanathar is a large lingamurthi, with Vinayaka and Valli Deiwani samedha murugan at the gate of his sanctum. The divine presence is towards the south. In one part of the Mahamandapam, there are ancient Bhairav and Surya towards the west side.
A separate moon is kept unconsecrated. The temple was inaugurated in 2006. Days are gone and the temple needs regular prayers and a good maintenance.
